At Pearl Global, sustainability is not a trend we follow—it is a responsibility we uphold. As a global apparel manufacturing organization, we recognize that our actions today shape the world future generations will inherit. This belief came alive on World Environment Day 2025 with the launch of Project Second Stitch, an initiative that reflects how purpose, people, and planet can come together to create lasting impact.

From Waste to Worth: The Birth of Second Stitch
The story of Second Stitch began not in a factory, but in a classroom.
During a visit to government schools in Haryana, Ms. Shifalli Seth, Vice Chairperson of Pearl Global, witnessed students sitting on bare floors—learning with resilience but without the basic comfort every child deserves. Instead of accepting this as a harsh reality, she saw an opportunity to act.
Back at Pearl’s production units, fabric waste—an inevitable by-product of apparel manufacturing—was waiting to be reimagined. What if this waste could be transformed into something meaningful? What if sustainability could directly uplift communities?
That moment of reflection sparked Project Second Stitch—a grassroots initiative that repurposes discarded fabric into durable, handcrafted rugs that now line classrooms and support better learning environments for children.

Reviving Heritage, Empowering Communities
Second Stitch is not just about recycling—it is about circularity with soul.
The rugs are handcrafted by skilled artisans from Panipat, a city renowned for its rich weaving heritage. By collaborating with these artisans, Pearl Global has created a bridge between industrial responsibility and traditional craftsmanship. Fabric scraps that once had no value are now carefully woven into products that carry both function and cultural legacy.
Today, these rugs are being used in government schools, providing over 2,000 students with a dignified, comfortable space to learn. The impact is tangible—classrooms are warmer, learning conditions are improved, and children feel seen and supported.
This initiative stands as proof that when sustainability meets empathy, real change follows.

Environmental Impact That Matters
While the human impact of Second Stitch is deeply moving, its environmental benefits are equally significant.
A total of 2,500 kg of fabric was repurposed, resulting in an estimated reduction of 65,000 kg of CO₂ emissions. The initiative benefited approximately 2,000 children from government schools and Anganwadi centres.

These numbers are more than metrics. They represent a mindset shift—one where waste is not an endpoint, but a starting point for innovation.
Leadership That Inspires Sustainable Thinking
At the heart of Project Second Stitch is values-driven leadership.
Ms. Shifalli Seth’s vision goes beyond compliance or corporate obligation. Her approach challenges teams to rethink waste, question existing processes, and actively seek solutions that balance business with responsibility. Under her guidance, sustainability at Pearl Global is not confined to strategy documents—it is embedded in everyday decisions and actions.
This leadership has inspired teams across the organization to champion circularity, innovate responsibly, and take ownership of their environmental impact. Second Stitch is one initiative, but the mindset it represents runs far deeper.
Beating Plastic Pollution—One Step at a Time
Aligned with the global World Environment Day theme #BeatPlasticPollution, Pearl Global has intensified its efforts to reduce single-use plastics across operations.

In the last quarter alone, 291 kg of plastic polybags have been eliminated and replaced with biodegradable and reusable alternatives. This shift has helped avoid over 1,751 kg of CO₂ emissions, reinforcing Pearl’s commitment to responsible material usage and operational efficiency.
These changes may seem incremental, but at scale, they create meaningful environmental impact. More importantly, they reflect a long-term commitment to embedding sustainability into the core of how we operate.
Growing Green Together: Employee-Led Action
Sustainability at Pearl Global is not driven by leadership alone—it is powered by people.
Employees across the organization actively participate in green initiatives, including plantation drives around the head office. These efforts may be symbolic, but they carry powerful meaning. Each tree planted represents a promise—to protect ecosystems, improve air quality, and contribute to a healthier planet.
By involving employees in sustainability efforts, Pearl fosters a shared sense of purpose. Environmental responsibility becomes collective, personal, and deeply rooted in company culture.
Second Stitch: A Blueprint for the Future
Project Second Stitch is more than a World Environment Day initiative—it is a blueprint for how businesses can drive impact responsibly.
It demonstrates that:
- Waste can become opportunity
- Sustainability can uplift communities
- Traditional skills can thrive alongside modern industry
- Environmental responsibility and business growth can coexist
As Pearl Global continues its sustainability journey, Second Stitch stands as a reminder that meaningful change often begins with a simple question: How can we do better?
Looking Ahead
At Pearl Global, we believe that the future of manufacturing must be circular, inclusive, and purpose-led. Through initiatives like Second Stitch, reduction of plastic usage, and employee-driven green practices, we are committed to weaving sustainability into every layer of our organization.
Because when industry, empathy, and innovation come together, we don’t just create products—we create impact.
And this is only the beginning.
